Pi in the Sky

I wanted a journal, and this is it.

First lecture, and I choked. Literally. I was drinking water (for some reason I got very thirsty), and choked on some water and was coughing for a while. Other than that, things seemed to be ok. The blackboard is not squeaky, large, and is at the right height. I went through almost everything that I wanted. My voice was a bit rough, though, I don’t know why. I’m also not used to teaching in the afternoon, it’s usually my nap time.

I guess I shouldn’t repeatedly ask if they have any questions, as they would ask if they have any questions. I’ll just replace asking that with a brief pause. Also I’m wondering how to get more people to answer my questions. As usual, it seems like the same people answer all the questions.

Chris and Nick seem to have a different approach to the course than Penny’s approach. Makes me wonder how to teach the rest of this course. As long as the assignments aren’t too out of line, I guess I should be ok.

The toilets here are the “advanced” ones that have heated seats and spray water on demand. This one that I went to today was so heated that it got very hot…not sure what that’s about.

The one thing I hated about the wedding yesterday was so many people asked me about when is my wedding going to be…very annoying.

I planned to buy Mario and Yoshi plush toys. But they are super expensive, and after taking another look, Mario doesn’t look so good. So I went for Yoshi only. Such a cute green dinosaur.

The wedding was yesterday, and it was an incredibly tiring day, but very moving as well. Overall, though, it’s so sad. Oh well. I was overwhelmed by the sheer number of people that showed up, and had trouble trying to catch up with everyone I know. Dinner was good.

The last few days had been pretty hectic, running around for wedding’s sake. I almost cracked, being on odd sleeping patterns and doing stuffs. Ended up ok, I guess. It’s like killer fatigue on the amazing race…heh.

Wedding yesterday, flights today, teaching tomorrow. I did prepare the first lecture, as the notes from my last time were pretty sparse. So at least I did something… Will see if jetlag is going to mess up my counting abilities. Probably will.
