Pi in the Sky

I wanted a journal, and this is it.

I finally got the car to a shop to solve the “check engine light” problem. Turns out that there were random misfires from 3 of the 4 pistons. I think that’s bad. In any case, the fix took the entire day, and about 370 bucks. I’m really getting tired of paying money for this car, though…don’t want to get a new one, either…

Moving to Harry’s basement this weekend. Very thankful that this has happened so quickly, from looking for a place to moving. Getting out of an igloo and moving into a slightly warmer igloo.

Taiwan trip coming up. Definitely not excited, of course. But that’s the norm. Oh yeah, and I need to renew my passport some time this year. Of course, since this is not so urgent, I probably won’t do it until I absolutely need to.

That Gram-Schmidt thing took a lot shorter than I thought. I don’t know if I rushed through it…it really is a simple concept, though. I started the approximating e^x example, but it felt…dead. I don’t know. Once again, I just didn’t feel excited about teaching…oh well.

I had some embarrassing moments when I temporarily forgot Peter’s name when he visited yesterday, and I called him David; and then today I couldn’t figure out who the guy with a spiked hairstyle was, and gave the wrong assignment to him…oops. And I’m definitely horrible with matching Chinese names with Chinese faces…

I hope the approximation thing will turn out to be awesome next class…I even prepared a Maple worksheet for it…we will soon find out.

This is the new location for my old old blog. Everything will be updated here from now on. Change bookmarks and everything!

I even imported everything here…but somehow the three paragraphs turn into two…bizarre.

The importing process was in several batches, and I get to read sample entries from the past…so sad.

After 6.5 years of blogging on blogger, Blogger has moved on, and so I will have to move on as well. It’s sad, but I guess I’ll embrace WordPress for now. I’ll move this to a new location soon, and will post the link here as the final post. Pity that I couldn’t get to the 2000-post celebration (this is the 1906th post)…oh well. And now, two more useless thoughts…

Ok, so I’m ignoring the check engine light on my car.

Don’t feel like applying for jobs at all…

I had a boring lecture. It’s not bad, it’s just that I didn’t feel like teaching at all. I really don’t know why. I like this projection stuff, but I always have a hard time conveying its great points.

Seen a draft of the first test, and it could potentially be nasty…heh. For some strange reason, I end up being responsible for about 60% of the marks for the current draft…yikes.

Yay for possible teaching again next term…?
